Mimi Wilcox is an Emmy-nominated and ACE Eddie award-winning editor & filmmaker based in Brooklyn. She honed her skills working at renowned production company Kartemquin Films, which instilled in her a deep understanding of documentary ethics and storytelling that she brings to every project she cuts.
Mimi edited the 3-part Netflix docuseries ESCAPING TWIN FLAMES (2023), for which she won an American Cinema Editors Eddie award and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy. She also edited the 4-part true crime series THE FOX HOLLOW MURDERS (Hulu/ABC Studios 2025) and the 4-part docuseries LET US PREY (ID/MAX 2023). Mimi co-edited Kartemquin Films' feature documentary THE DILEMMA OF DESIRE (Showtime, SXSW 2020) and edited the feature documentaries WITH THIS LIGHT (Winner, Documentary Feature Jury Award at Austin Film Festival 2022) and HEAD TO HEAD (Heartland Film Festival 2020). She also edited the award-winning short documentary MnM (CPH:DOX 2023, Criterion) for Multitude Films’ Queer Futures series.
Mimi directed, produced and edited the mid-length documentary BAD HOSTAGE (Sheffield DocFest 2024), which was shortlisted by the IDA as one of the best documentaries of the year. Her first short film, ALPHA MARE, was a 2021 Vimeo Staff Pick. She also co-produced the award-winning Oscar-qualifying documentary short HOW TO FALL IN LOVE IN A PANDEMIC (Tribeca Film Festival 2021). Her corporate clients have included Shure Inc. and Sotheby’s.
Mimi was a 2022-2023 Karen Schmeer Film Editing Fellow. She is a member of the Alliance of Documentary Editors and serves on the Membership Committee. She was born and raised in Northern California and before moving to Brooklyn spent a decade living in Chicago. Mimi is usually fostering a dog or a cat and is a Brandi Carlile superfan. She has a BA in Economics and Russian from the University of Chicago, and is conversational in Spanish and Russian.
